new stuff

What a good day!

Two pairs of shoes (20$) and a jean jacket (29$) from Urban Planet.
Lace crop top from Garage for under 10$.

We took baby to the doctor and got everything sorted out. She is healthy and good. Nothing to worry about!

I don't have a lot of time today, so until tomorrow!

eye candy

Outfit details:
Shirt - borrowed from Maegan
Shorts - Forever 21
Shoes - Lulu's
Classy hair tie

No jewelery! How boring! ALSO - who taught me how to iron clothes? Someone didn't do a very good job, and I'm only noticing now! I have to post these pictures because I am craving sunshine like you wouldn't believe... and a visit from my best friend!

The recital today went lovely. Meghan, my teacher, is so wonderfully organized and excited about each and every one of her students. She was glowing! How great is that? The only word I have to describe her is lovely. I had a great time. I thought it was one of the best recitals I've ever been to! Sometimes they can be a little dry, but there was so much balance and variety that it was impossible to get bored. It was a great day!

Oh Mr. Sun, Sun
Mr. Golden Sun...
Please shine down on Newfoundland!
Please!

pop of color for a rainy foggy day

This is the promised post of what I wore when it was cold, rainy and foggy outside! Why do we have such terrible weather in June? Now... it was a bit nicer today... I'm hoping it sticks. I'm going down to sing now and get ready for tomorrow. Wish me luck! I'm so nervous! I can't leave stuff like this 'til last minute anymore! I sound like a broken record! Jeff really wanted to go out with his friends tonight and I couldn't say no because we haven't seen them in literally a year. It's a sin! I have people over all the time. He rarely asks to do things so when he gave me the puppy dog eyes tonight, I melted. We had fun. His friends are wonderful. Ashley taught me how to braid my hair differently than I've been doing so I'm excited to show that off!

Here are the pictures. I have to say... I find when I am running out the door, grabbing the first things that pop out at me, I come up with things I really love, like on this particular day. But sometimes when I'm trying really hard to create a great outfit, bad things happen. Today was the prime example of what I'm talking about: I wore an Old Navy dress, AA scarf, and paired it with pink tights to try and liven it up with some color. I thought I looked witchy, but I said the hell with it, and decided to just go with it. When we went out this evening, I decided the tights weren't comfy, so I jumped into white leggings and an open white cardigan and what do you know... I didn't look witchy, I looked like I was dressed for the right season again, and I didn't stand out like a sore thumb. Sometimes trying too hard gets you nowhere!

Outfit details:
Pants - Jeff's Mom handed these down to me!
Shoes - Spring
Guess purse - gift from Jeff's sister
Chiffon Shirt - Gap
Blazer - Forever 21
Scarf - gifted
Once the weather starts looking up, I can start taking pictures outside... You must be getting bored with my basement!

Hope everyone had a fun, safe weekend.

For $10

I got...

I'm really loving the antique gold feeling lately. Don't you think the little elephant charm is a cute accent? And the big chunky necklace will be cute to spice up something simple and add a statement. Can't go wrong for $5!

Other than that, I went shopping for our camping trip today while baby was out with her Dad and Jeff was home doing his man things. It's great to get out and about by yourself sometimes. I took some outfit pictures before I left so I'll post them tonight along with the other promised post :)

I also picked up a new work space. A black zipper close binder to create profiles of my students so I can act more organized. It should be great! Kindermusik starts up again mid-July so that should be fun! I have to start learning my music for this unit!

I didn't get to sing yesterday because Jeff's parents were down for Chinese and stayed pretty late! It was fun! So I need to be stricter with myself. Obviously I need to do things earlier! What am I going to do when Baby stops going for naps? I won't get anything done!

I'm off to dive into my guilty pleasures now. Mmmmmmm.

"dead fish" dress

Instead of posting today's outfit, I'm going to bring up another oldie. But.. it's new to the blog! Today was a horrible rainy foggy day. It was so miserable! I'm going to make it a goal tomorrow to set up the camera and snap some shots, including some of what I wore today, because it actually worked in cheering myself up once I had it on. The only problem in making it a goal to post those pics is that my sister is borrowing my blazer sometime before the weekend so it means I have to act fast!

I had an extra rehearsal with Meg, my voice teacher, and Robin, a fellow student, today. Yes, I had my song memorized, so the goal from yesterday was a success! They laugh so much in their lessons! It's so refreshing. It actually made me a little sad that I'm not more easy going. So just because of that...

Tomorrow's (official) goal(s):
1. Laugh and have more fun, for the love of GOD! Ease up a little!
2. Snap some pictures
3. MEMORIZE YOUR SONG! Recital is Sunday! (I can't wait to dress up...)

Anyway, in lieu of praying for good weather, here are some pictures from when the sun was shining... I fell in love with this cute little sun dress on the Forever 21 site, and when I showed my sister, she nicknamed it my "dead fish" dress with a look of disgust... however... once I had it on, she liked it :)

Outfit details:
Dress - Forever 21
Cardigan - Forever 21
Scarf (tied at the waist) - American Apparel
Necklace - Smart Set (can't really see it here)
Flats - Charlotte Russe
(I gave these shoes away after I wore them once because they tore the back of my heels apart; small make?)

Looking forward to Friday...

change of plans!

So yesterday didn't work out as planned, but I have a wonderful excuse for not completing what I had planned!

Let me just warn you, this is the only picture of my sister Nicole and I that I could find on such short notice that she won't kill me for putting on the blog! This picture was taken at my baby shower a year and a half ago when I was 9 months pregnant! Excuse the baby bump, the black and red hair and the bangs! You know what this means... I think we need some updated family photos!

Anyway! Back to what I was saying!

My sister Nicole got the official call asking her to be a cadet for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary! So congratulations!

And of course we had to celebrate for her. We threw a huge family supper and had a few drinks! Not great practice or singing conditions. I'm carrying over yesterday's goal to today. Since I won't be posting today's outfit, as right now it consists of jogs and one of Jeff's A&F T-shirts, I'll post some pictures I took when I was out celebrating my younger sister Julia's birthday. We went to the mall to do some summer shopping.

- nude lip liner, and pink gloss from a gifted shoppers drug mart make up kit!
I find those kits great; you have every shade of gloss you could ever possibly want.
You don't need an entire tube of a color you only wear occasionally.
I do own a nice taupe from MAC that I wear all the time, and GOSH lip gloss in a pink/nude color,
but other than that, I don't buy many lip colors.

Outfit details:
Cardigan - Hollister
Smocked Floral Tube Top - Forever 21
Distressed Double Cuff Jeans - Forever 21
Garren Blowfish Platforms - Lulu's

Personally, I think this is the perfect mall day outfit! The air conditioning in the mall is brutal so you need a cover up! The outfit is easy to throw on and off when you're changing in and out of things... and these platforms are my favorite. They are so comfy and so easy to walk in!

At the moment, I'm off to have a fun playdate with my great Mommy friend Kelly and her two kids!

two days late!

I didn't get to see my Dad on Father's Day. It was strange. I really missed him! It's hard when you work in the nights. Most of your days are gone, wasted away. He told me I'd see him today.

My Dad is actually not my Dad by blood, but you'd never tell. I love him just as much as I would if we had the same DNA. I've never doubted he loved me just as much as his other daughters. I've always trusted and loved him. Well, after I got over being 12 years old, anyway! But that's behind us!

Ricky, thank you for being there for me, always. For loving me like your own, as I'll always love you!

brown and salmon!

Goal results: Stress free day! I didn't stress at my lesson or at work. I didn't stress over supper. We had taco nachos! Nachos with ground beef with taco sauce, tomatoes, cheese and onions... Broiled in the oven... Then topped with hot sauce and lettuce... Mmmmmm! Improved when we couldn't find any taco shells! Excellent!

Today's outfit! I'm sorry I still haven't gotten around to setting up the new camera! ...but I didn't stress about it ;)

It was POURING rain when I was coming in to work tonight. My hair can attest to that.
I had an unexpected break so I got a chance to snap a few quick pictures.

I love love love these lace up heels.

Outfit details:
Blazer - Bluenotes
Off the shoulder burn out top - Forever 21
Distressed Jeans - Garage
Scalloped Lace-Up Heels - Forever 21
Earrings - Forever 21
Necklace - Dynamite
Tote bag - OLD American Eagle (The only thing that carries my work supplies)

Gift from a student tonight! How sweet. What a cute box of chocolates...
I love the double sided ribbon. I might try this when it comes time for wrapping gifts Christmas time!

Tomorrow's goal: Memorize at least one of my songs. Recital is SUNDAY!

Hope your Monday was good... Monday's actually one of my favorite days of the week!

today I feel like singing the lazy song

Here's a peep at what I wore today. Sorry about the quality! I'm in the process of figuring out Jeff's camera so I can use it regularly. These were just taken on my computer in a rush while baby was wandering around. I enjoy wearing flowy whites in the breezy windy Newfoundland summer weather. This was just a plain, relaxing day, so I wanted a comfy outfit! I paired this shirt (Forever 21) with my high waisted levi jeans, some loose curls and some tribal inspired jewlery from Forever 21!
Some info: baby isn't really a baby! She's a year and a half! But she is my baby.

Today's goal results: Success! Learned my duet song, and (I think) Jeff had a relaxing day! Hooray!

Tomorrow's goal: Don't stress out over anything small. It's going to be a busy day. Go in prepared. Feel (and look) your best!

xo,
Courtney

happy father's day

Yesterday's goal results: I practiced singing... and did not finish learning my duet song. The singing I did yesterday was with my friend Tiffany who was practicing her sight reading. It was some of the most fun I've had in a long time. She is a very special person.

Speaking of special people...

Today's goal(s): Make Jeff's day relaxing! Oh and... finish learning my duet song.

Jeff. He is a fantastic father to my little girl every day, full of love and hugs and kisses... It takes a lot to be a good Dad, and he certainly does a lot for her. He keeps our family together. Most importantly, he holds me together and keeps me strong. I don't know where I'd be without him. He is one of the most special people I've ever met, and the most important person in my life. Thank you for giving me a family.

New York, New York!
Here are some pictures from the most memorable trip of my entire life! I won't show them all... I'm sure I'll be feeling nostalgic another day.

Jeff and I having a drink at Hard Rock!
- Modcloth sweater
Supper at The View
Having hot chocolate, waiting to go skating in Central Park...
- Forever 21 coat

At the taping of Lady Gaga's HBO Special!
My Gaga-inspired attire...
- Forever 21 sparkling moto jacket, Charlotte Russe sequined scarf, Garage lace tank, levi's high waisted skinnies, AA leg warmers, Gap shades, booties...

That's enough for now! Kiss your father and tell him you love him!
